WEEKEND PREVIEW
The Southwest Minnesota State University softball team (22-16, 8-4 NSIC) are back in action with three sets of NSIC doubleheaders this week.
SMSU will face the USF Cougars on Wednesday beginning at 11:30 a.m. in Sioux Falls, before traveling north to face Concordia-St. Paul on Saturday beginning at 12 p.m. and St. Cloud State on Sunday beginning at 12 p.m.

RECAP OF LAST WEEKEND
The Mustangs traveled to Mankato, Minn., for a pair of midweek NSIC doubleheaders against Minnesota State and Winona State, splitting the series with MSU on Thursday, before dropping both games against WSU on Friday.
Freshman Aliza Acker led SMSU hitting 7 of 13 on the weekend, scoring four runs herself.
Paris Van Dyke had four hits on the weekend including one RBI and scoring three runs.
Lexi Ingalls added three hits of her own including doubles in back-to-back games against Minnesota State
Freshman Ramsey Hopp went 0-2 in starts on the weekend pitching in nine total innings with 12 strikeouts. Hopp had a career-high 10 strikeouts against Winona State and had three hits offensively.
Jordyn Marsh went 1-1 and pitched all seven innings in SMSU's first NSIC win against Minnesota State since 2013.
MUSTANGS BY THE NUMBERS
Jordyn Marsh (14-5) leads the Mustangs on the mound with a 1.78 ERA with 98 strikeouts and a batting average against of .241. The sophomore is also batting .289 with four doubles, two home runs, and 17 RBIs.
Freshman Aliza Acker leads the Mustangs with a .366 batting average, 45 hits, and 11 doubles. Acker is tied for first in home runs with three and is second in RBIs with 19.
Senior Riley Kramolisch is second on the team with 41 hits, a batting average of .323, 23 runs and two triples. Kramolisch became the eighth Mustang in team history to record 200 hits in a career in late March.
Junior outfielder Paris Van Dyke after a strong 10-game stretch is now batting .309 on the year. Van Dyke is tied for second in doubles with six, and fourth in hits with 29.
Grace Anderson is hitting .290 with four doubles and a home run. Anderson fifth on the team with 14 RBIs.
Junior Emma Humpal leads the Mustangs with 22 RBIs, is tied for the lead in walks with 15, and third on the team with 30 hits. Both Humpal and Acker have three home runs each.
Freshman Ramsey Hopp (8-10) has a 3.60 ERA in 107 innings, allowing 146 hits and 67 runs (55 earned), striking out 51 batters. In 58 at-bats, Hopp has a batting average of .362 and 15 RBIs.
HEAD COACH BAILEY BOUMAN
Bailey Bouman is in her seventh season as head coach at SMSU with an overall record of 163-190, including 83-101 in NSIC play.
The 11th head coach in program history, Bouman was named to the position on Aug. 8, 2018.
The Mustangs finished the 2025 campaign with a 29-26 record, the second winning record for Bouman as head coach, with a 11-17 NSIC record and a ninth-place finish in the conference.
SMSU finished with a 19-32 overall mark in 2024. Abby Boxrud and Paris Van Dyke became the first Mustangs to earn All-NSIC Defensive honors in the Bouman era.
The Mustangs finished the 2023 season 17-32 and missed the NSIC Tournament for the first time in three seasons.
SMSU finished 21-31 in 2022 and won its second NSIC Tournament game in consecutive seasons.
The Mustangs finished 27-20 in 2021, their best season since 2011, while winning their first NSIC tournament game since Bouman's first season in 2019.
SMSU finished 19-26 during her first season in 2019 and qualified for the NSIC Tournament.
Bouman was an assistant coach with the SMSU women's basketball program from 2015-17 and was also an assistant women's basketball coach at Dordt College (Iowa) before returning to SMSU.
Bouman is a 2014 graduate of the University of Sioux Falls where she played both basketball and softball for the Cougars.
SERIES HISTORY AGAINST THE COUGARS
The Mustangs will meet Sioux Falls for the 29th and 30th time on Wednesday with the series tied 14-14.
SMSU is 3-1 in the last four games against the Cougars. The series is 3-3 in the last six games played in Sioux Falls, however the Mustangs swept the Cougars last season in Sioux Falls.
Bailey Bouman has a 9-5 record against her alma mater as head coach at SMSU.
SERIES HISTORY AGAINST THE GOLDEN BEARS
SMSU faces Concordia-St. Paul for the 79th and 80th time on Saturday, SMSU holds a 43-35 advantage all time against the Golden Bears.
The series is split 5-5 in the last 10 meetings between the two, and all time are 19-13 in away fixtures against CSP. The two teams split a pair of games on Feb. 6 and Feb. 7 hosted in St. Cloud.
Coach Bouman holds a 6-8 record against the Golden Bears.
SERIES HISTORY AGAINST THE HUSKIES
SMSU faces St. Cloud State for the 116th and 117th time on Sunday. SCSU holds a 63-51-1 advantage all time against the Mustangs.
The series is split 4-4 in the last eight meetings after SCSU's win on Feb. 6 in eight innings, however the Mustangs are 1-7 in the last eight games played in St. Cloud with the last win being in 2022.
Coach Bouman holds a 5-13 record against the Huskies.
UP NEXT FOR THE MUSTANGS
SMSU will make their way back to Sioux Falls on Friday, April 17, with a doubleheader against Augustana, before returning to Marshall to face Wayne State the following Sunday at Mustang Field.

SMSU has played in 2,153 games, compiling an all-time record of 1,095-1,057-1.
The Mustangs have won 10 NSIC regular season championships, two NSIC Tournament titles and has played in four NCAA Tournaments.
