COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Southwest Minnesota State softball team lost its season opener Friday morning at the RMAC/NSIC Crossover in Colorado Springs, Colo., falling to Regis (Colo.) 8-1.

Amanda Johnson suffered the loss on the mound for SMSU allowing six runs and eight hits in six inning of work, while striking out nine and walking two.
SMSU, 0-1 overall, will play Nebraska-Kearney at 4 p.m. CST on Friday afternoon.
