KISSIMMEE, Fla. - The Southwest Minnesota State softball team split a pair of game in the opening day of their annual spring trip to Kissimmee, Fla.
SMSU was no-hit in its tournament opener against Saginaw Valley State (Mich.). SVU earned a 4-0 victory on Saturday morning against the Mustangs.
SVU scored a pair of runs in both the third and sixth innings to secure the win.
Amanda Johnson took the loss on the mound for SMSU, allowing six hits in six innings of work.
The Mustangs rallied with a 4-3 victory over Southern Indiana on Saturday afternoon.

Nicole Kelley all collected hits for SMSU. Paczosa and Kelley each had an RBI.
Sara Silke picked up the win for SMSU, going 4.1 innings before Johnson came in relief to get the save. Silke moves to 4-2 on the season, while Johnson got her first save.
The game was knotted at 1-1 going into the fourth inning, but USI broke the tie, capitalizing on a Mustang error and scoring one run just before the inning ended. But the Mustangs put together a three-run fourth inning to take a 4-2 lead.
UIS tacked on another run in the fifth, but it was not enough as SMSU held on to win.
