NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The Southwest Minnesota State wrestling team began the 2010-11 dual season tonight with a 34-10 victory over St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minn.

SMSU used four victories by fall to help cruise to the victory.

Jacob Begin started off the match for SMSU at 157 with a win by fall at 4:22 over Justin Skillings to give the Mustangs a 6-0 lead. St. Olaf tied the match at 165 as Sam Bonsu lost by fall at 3:25 to Josef Waples, before SMSU reeled off six straight victories to seal the win.

Zak Coates earned a 7-1 decision over Joseph Pesta at 174, while CD Johnson followed with a 5-1 victory against Collin Jergenson at 184. Erik Berdahl added six more team points at 197 with a victory by fall at 2:21 over James Noneman.

Todd Klemz earned a hard-fought 5-2 victory past Sahmad Nakumbe at 285, before Seife Kenea at 125 (11-4) and Justin Reinsma at 133 (11-3) picked up blowout victories to give SMSU a 28-6 lead.

Following a loss by SMSU's Robert Morris at 140, David Albrecht capped the match for SMSU with a win by fall at 2:27.

SMSU will be in action tomorrow competing at the Augsburg Open in Minneapolis.
