FAYETTE, Iowa — No. 8 Upper Iowa took the first six bouts to defeat Southwest Minnesota State 33-9 in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference wrestling Friday night.
Upper Iowa took the opening bout with a 15-0 tech. fall at 4:15 and followed it with a pin at 133 pounds at 2:24 to lead 11-0 early.
The Peacocks wouldn't stop there, as they took the next four bouts. They started with a 7-1 decision at 141 pounds and followed with a 4-0 decision at 149 pounds and 12-1 major decision at 157.
UIU picked up a 4-2 decision at 165, before
Kyle Begin put SMSU on the board with a 10-8 decision at 174 pounds.
Upper iowa took the next two bout with a 5-2 decision at 184 pounds and closed the night off with a pin at 197 in 4:14.
Cole Wilson picked up the final points for SMSU with a pin at 44 seconds.
