DES MOINES, Iowa / St. Peter, Minn. – The Southwest Minnesota State University track & field teams finished a busy Saturday in both Iowa and Minnesota competing at both the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa, and the Drake Alternative at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minn.
At the Drake Relays, the SMSU women's distance medlay team of
Kim Shabino,
Eisha Oden,
Sarah Mayfield and
Hannah Palmeter broke the school record with a time of 4:07.25 to finish fourth overall.
The Mustang men's distance medlay squad of
Dallin Finley,
Ben Ryan,
Zach Jones and
Chris Kveseth also set a new school mark with a time of 3:35.7 to place 16
th.
Some highlights from St. Peter today, included Jordan Janisch advancing to the finals of the 100 meters and placing sixth with a personal best time of 11.43.
Kelly Fitzsimmons and
Alex Solheim finished 10
th and 11
th in the 1,500 meters with times of 4:16.64 and 4:16.70 respectively.
Macy Violett ran a personal best 2:28.11 in the 800 meters to record an eighth place finish.
