MOORHEAD, Minn. – The Southwest Minnesota State University women's cross-country team placed fifth out of 11 teams on Friday night competing at the MSU Moorhead Dragon Twilight held on the campus of MSU Moorhead.
The SMSU women's team closed with 148 points, while the SMSU men's team recorded 238 points to finish in ninth place.
UMary won the women's team title with 17 points, while Minot State finished second with 73 points. On the men's side, MSU Moorhead won the invite recording 31 points with Minot State placing second at 67 points.
Maddy Marco led the Mustang women with a 13
th place finish out of 94 runners covering the 4,000-meter course with a time of 15:10.
Macie Langstraat crossed the finish line at 15:15 to place 24
th, while teammate
Catherine Ihrke was 35
th at 15:48.
Natalie Jorschumb and
Carissa Andres finished 49
th and 50
th respectively with times of 16:30 and 16:32.
Kyra Kusnierek recorded a time of 17:00 to place 58
th,
Josephine Lentz finished 63
rd with a time of 17:10,
Brycelyn Hanson was 75
th at 18:03, while
Savanna Busch closed at 18:24 for 78
th overall.
For the SMSU men's team,
Seth Torgerson finished 41
st in the 6,000-meter race that featured nearly 100 athletes with a time of 20:11.
Rally Palomo placed 53
rd at 21:04 with
Gus Foster right behind in 54
th at 21:11.
Ivan Barrera crossed the finish line at 21:29 to finish 57
th,
Daniel Olson was 68
th at 22:16,
Patrick Jenkins ran 22:48 to finish 77
th, while
Ian Kalin was 88
th at 23:45.
SMSU will next compete in two weeks at the Roy Griak Invitational hosted by the University of Minnesota on Sept. 22.
