MANKATO, Minn. – Southwest Minnesota State's
Tyler Smith set a school record to win the 500 meters, while the SMSU women's distance medley relay set a school record to earn third place and highlight day one for the Mustangs' indoor track & field teams at the Mark Schuck Open & Multi on Friday hosted by Minnesota State.
Smith broke his own school, which he set last season, with a first-place time of 1:06.43. Teammate
Bjorn Mattick finished in third place with a time of 1:09.33.
The women's distance medley team of
Macie Langstraat,
Sierra Clifford,
Kyra Kusnierek and
Madison Marco ran 12:45.80 to finish third behind Minnesota State and Nebraska Omaha.
Brooke Wetterstrom earned a first-place time of 1:24.34 in the 500 meters.
