MANKATO, Minn. – The Southwest Minnesota State men's and women's track & field teams placed fifth and sixth respectively for the final day at the Mark Schuck Open & Multi on Saturday hosted by Minnesota State.
On the women's side on the track,
Brooke Wetterstrom finished 9th in the 600-meter with a time of 1:43.49.
Macie Langstraat secured a third-place finish in the women's 1000-meter with a time of 3:06.45.
Emily Van Roekel ran a 1:05.46 in the women's 400-meter to place 15th.
Madison Marco placed 22nd in the women's 1-mile with a time of 5:35.01.
For the men's side on the track,
Tyler Smith earned a fifth-place finish in the men's 600-meter with a time of 1:23.64. Teammate
Dylan Schwarz placed 11th at 1:25.86.
Bjorn Mattick placed 11th in the men's 400-meter with a time of 52.16.
Logan Roelofs placed 22nd in the men's 1-mile with a time of 4:41.73.
In field events for the women's team,
Nadia Sanford earned a first-place finish in women's shot put at 13.41m, and 10th place in weight throw (15.13m).
Christine Sleeter tied for fifth place in the women's high jump at 1.61m.
In field events for the men's team,
Jacob Kunkel placed third in the men's high jump at 1.98m, tying the school record. Teammate
Ryan Kronbach placed fourth in the high jump at 1.93m.
Tyler Nebelung secured a second-place finish in the men's weight throw with 17.97m.
SMSU will be back in action next Friday, Feb. 7 competing at the Ted Nelson Classic in Mankato, Minn.
