COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – The Southwest Minnesota State women's and men's track & field teams recorded several first-place finishes at the CSB/SJU Invitiational on Saturday inside the Donald McNeely Spectrum on the campus of Saint John's University.
Christine Sleeter had a big day for the Mustang women's team winning the high jump with an NCAA provisional mark of 1.67m.
Rainbow Stands came in third place with a height of 1.57m.
Nadia Sanford won the shot put with a toss of 13.52m to rank 34
th in the country this season.
Sierra Clifford captured first-place in the 600 meters at 1:37.78 and won the 200 meters at 26.29.
Jada Backes earned second place in the 60 meter hurdles at 9.46 with
Allison Watts in fourth at 9.57.
Emily Lorentz was second in the weight throw at 16.12m with Sanford finishing in third place at 16.10m.
Michelle Marquard cleared 3.22m in the pole vault to finish in fourth place.
On the men's side,
Roel Palomo earned first place in the 800 meters crossing the line at 2:01.33.
Tyler Nebelung recorded a first-place throw of 17.65m in the weight throw with teammate
Deekon Anvid finishing second at 16.06m. Nebelung also was fourth in the shot put at 13.94m with Anvid right behind in fifth at 13.51m.
Max Schmitt had a strong showing running 23.25 in the 200 meters to finish in second place.
Jacob Kunkel cleared 1.93m in the high jump to place third.
Dylan Schwarz ran 1:25.26 in the 600 meters crossing the line in fourth place.
SMSU will have one more meet prior to the NSIC Championships. The Mustangs will compete at the Maverick Open on Feb. 21, before the NSIC Championships on Feb. 28 and March 1.
