MANKATO, Minn. – The Southwest Minnesota State University women's and men's track & field teams concluded day one of the NSIC Indoor Championships on Friday inside Myers Field House on the campus of Minnesota State University.
For the men's team,
Ryan Kronbach led the way with a fifth place in the high jump with a personal best 1.96 to earn SMSU 3.5 points. Teammate
Jacob Kunkel cleared 1.91 to finish in 11
th place.
Tyler Smith ran 1.23.12 for the third-fastest time in the 600-meter prelims to qualify for Saturday's finals.
Chaden Carroll placed ninth in the pole vault at 4.14m with
DJ Rock earning 12
th place at 3.99m.
Tyler Nebelung recorded a toss of 17.0m in the weight throw to finished 10
th.
Jack Clark competed in the heptathlon with four rounds completed on Friday and is currently in 13
th place. Clark's highest finish on the day was eighth in the 60 meters with a personal best time of 7.34.
Greg Schafer competed in the 60-meters and placed 17th with a time of 6.99.
Cody Evers (8.67) and
Max Schmitt (8.70) both ran in the 60-meter hurdles finishing 15
th and 16
th respectively.
On the women's side,
Emily Lorentz finished eighth overall in the weight throw with a personal best toss of 16.16m to earn SMSU one point, while
Nadia Sanford placed 11th at 15.91m.
Sierra Clifford qualified for Saturday's final in the 600-meters with a fifth-place qualifying time of 1:37.66.
Kyra Kusnierek ran 1:40.39 to finish 13th, while
Brooke Wetterstrom was 17th with a personal best 1:42.28.
Macie Langstraat advanced to Saturday's 1,000-meter final with a seventh-place qualifying time of 3:04.09, while
Madison Marco finished 10
th overall at 3:05.79. Langstraat's time ranks as the third fastest in team history.
Victoria Robillard led the Mustangs in the pole vault with a personal best 3.29m to finish 13
th overall.
The final day of the NSIC Championships begin on Saturday at 9 a.m.
