RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Southwest Minnesota State University outfielder
Levi Lampert was named the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Central Region Player of the Week on Wednesday for his performance in five games last week.
Lampert, a junior from Upsala, Minn., batted .571 (12 for 21) with four home runs, four doubles, eight RBIs, and 15 runs scored, while racking up 28 total bases for a 1.333 slugging percentage. He walked five times, was hit by two pitches, and stole two bases to close the week with an on-base pct. of .667.
On March 25, Lampert recorded a double, two walks and scored two runs in SMSU's 12-10 road loss to Division I South Dakota State.
During SMSU's four-game sweep over Minot State last Thursday and Friday, Lampert batted .611 (11 for 18) with a home run in each game and a double in the final three games. He was 3 for 4 in both games on Thursday and added two more multi-hit games in the two victories on Friday.
For the season, Lampert is batting .444 (36 for 81) with nine doubles, eight home runs, 24 RBIs, 34 runs scored. He has reached base in all 23 games, collecting 20 walks, seven hit by pitches and is 8 for 8 in stolen base attempts.
A 2022 graduate of Upsala High School, Lampert played two seasons at Alexandria Technical and Community College before transferring to SMSU.
It's the third straight season SMSU has garnered a NCBWA region player or pitcher of the week.
Ansen Dulas was named pitcher of the week on March 13, 2023, while
Isaac Nett was named player of the week on April 1, 2024.
SMSU, 16-7 overall, 11-5 NSIC, returns to action with a four-game road series versus Concordia-St. Paul on Saturday and Sunday.
