MARSHALL, Minn. -- Southwest Minnesota State University head wrestling coach
Chayse Jackson recently announced eight student-athletes have signed to continue their academic and wrestling careers at SMSU.

Joining the program for the 2025-26 season include high school standouts Jeremy Blascyk from Hoffman, Minn., Cole Munsterteiger from Buffalo, Minn., Wyatt Pollard from Sleepy Eye, Minn., Dylan St. Germain from Eagan, Minn., and Max Weizorek from Chatham, Ill.

Xander Kenworthy from Ankeny, Iowa, a transfer from North Iowa Area Community College, and Bronson Richins, a transfer from Northeastern Junior College (Colo.) and a native of Coalville, Utah, both join the program after competing at the Junior College level. DJ Rock, from Luverne, Minn., also joins the program after competing with the SMSU track & field team this past season.

"These guys bring a wealth of wrestling experience with several transfers and freshman who could make an immediate impact on our program," Jackson said. "Along with their accolades in wrestling, these guys have shown to be great students and more importantly, great people. From 125 to heavyweight, this class will help define the next generation of SMSU wrestling. Can't wait to start working with them and I am super excited to welcome this year's class to the herd!"

Blascyk is a 2025 graduate of West Central Area High School and competed for West Central Area/Ashby/Brandon-Evansville. A two-time individual state qualifier, he finished sixth in Class 1A at 215 pounds as a senior and qualified for the state meet as a junior at 189 pounds. Blascyk, a two-time conference champion and three-time all-conference honoree, is expected to compete at 197 or 285 pounds for SMSU.

Kenworthy is expected to compete at either 197 or 285 pounds for SMSU after spending the past two seasons at North Iowa Area Community College where he is a two-time junior college national qualifier. A state place winner in high school, Kenworthy is a 2023 graduate of Ankeny High School.

Munsterteiger is a 2025 graduate of Mound Westonka High School and projected to compete at 141 or 149 pounds for SMSU. He competed in the state meet five times and was two-time state place winner. He finished sixth at 127 pounds at the 2024 state Class 2A meet and was finished fifth at 120 pounds in 2023. A team captain and a four-time all-conference honoree, Munsterteiger recorded 198 victories in his high school career, while also earning academic all-state honors.

Pollard is a 2025 graduate of Sleepy Eye St. Mary's High School and competed for New Ulm High School. He is projected to compete at 174 pounds for SMSU. Pollard won a school record 50 matches as a senior including placing sixth at the Class 2A state meet at 172 pounds. He closed his career with 157 career victories and twice was named all-conference. An academic all-state honoree, he was a six-year letter winner in wrestling, a four-year letter winner in football and earned three letters in baseball.

Richins spent three seasons at Northeastern Junior College in Sterling, Colo., and is projected to compete at 141 pounds for SMSU. He is a two-time junior college national qualifier and twice was named an All-American scholar athlete. A 2022 graduate of North Summit High School, Richins was a four-year placer and two-time finalist in high school, including winning a state title in Class 2A at 132 pounds during his senior season.

Rock, a 2023 high school graduate, competed at Luverne High School. He was a multiple state place winner, including recording 47 victories and a sixth-place state finish his senior season at 160 pounds. A high school state champion in the pole vault, he competed this past season on the SMSU track & field team.

St. Germain is a 2025 graduate of Eagan High School and expected to compete at 125 pounds for SMSU. He was a state champion this past season in Class 3A at 114 pounds. He closed his career as a three-time state placer and two-time state finalist, while recording 136 victories with 108 via fall. He was also a three-time freestyle state champion.

Weizorek is a 2025 graduate of Glenwood High School and is projected to compete at 197 pounds for the Mustangs. He was a state place winner and recorded 53 victories as a junior, including finishing fifth at the state Class 2A meet at 190 pounds. Weizorek was ranked No. 2 in the state as a senior but had his final season cut short due to an injury. He closed his career with 105 victories.

SMSU, located in Marshall, is a member of NCAA Division II and competes in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.
