MARSHALL, Minn. - The Southwest Minnesota State University women's and men's cross-country teams resume competition this Friday at the annual Roy Griak Invitational hosted by the University of Minnesota at the Les Bolstad Golf Course in Falcon Heights, Minn.

The men's 8,000-meter race is set to begin at 11:30 a.m. with the women's 6,000-meter race to follow at 12:15 p.m.

SMSU last competed at the Roy Griak Invitational during the 2023 season.

Friday's race will be SMSU's second of the season after competing at the Augustana Twilight on Sept. 5. MSU Moorhead Twilight on Sept. 8. In the women's 5K race,
Madison Marco led the Mustangs with a 57th place finish out of 319 athletes hitting the finish line at 18:59.
Carter Schwalbe was the highest finisher for the men's team in the four-mile race crossing the line at 20:47 to place 130th out of nearly 400 athletes.
