MARSHALL, Minn. – The Southwest Minnesota State women's golf team shot a 39-over-par 327 in the first round of the EverSpring Inn & Suites Mustang Invite played at Marshall Golf Club on Saturday.
The final round will begin on Sunday with a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m.
SMSU is currently in a tie for sixth place in the 12-team invite along with Sioux Falls. Both teams trail fifth place Morningside by three shots and fourth place Augustana by seven shots.
Minnesota State is the first round leader with a score of 17-over 305, holding a five-stroke advantage over Minnesota Crookston. Emerson Garlie from Minnesota State is the individual leader with a 1-under 71.
Meghan Pundsack led the Mustangs on Saturday with 4-over 76 registering three birdies and 10 pars and is currently tied for fourth in the 77-player field.
Isabella Jacobs and
Carly Hamman are tied for 32
nd after rounds of 10-over 82. Jacobs made one birdie and eight pars on the day, while Hamman closed with a pair of birdies and five pars.
Allie Nedved and
Berkley Steffen both shot scores of 15-over 87 and are tied for 53
rd. Nedved carded five pars with Steffen also finishing with five pars.
Roni Hook and
Natalie Appel played as individuals with Hook shooting a 17-over 89 and Appel ending at 27-over 99.
