Mustang golf in eighth place after round one of SMSU Spring Invite

LITCHFIELD PARK, Ariz. – The Southwest Minnesota State women's golf team opened the spring portion of the 2025-26 season on Monday shooting a 44-over-par 332 in the first round of the SMSU Spring Invite held at Wigwam Resort.
 
SMSU is currently in eighth place in the 13-team tournament. The second and final round begins at 10 a.m. CDT with tee times. Western New Mexico leads the tournament with a 16-over 304.
 
Carly Hamman led the Mustangs with a team-low 9-over 81 and is in 30th place in the 73-player field. Hamman recorded a pair of birdies and eight pars. Berkley Steffen had a team-high three birdies along with four pars on her way to an 11-over 83 and is tied for 40th. Meghan Pundsack also shot an 83 with 10 pars. Allie Nedved had one birdie and one par on Monday and is in 47th place following a round of 13-over 85. Natalie Appel had one birdie and one par on her way to a 20-over 92. Roni Hook played as an individual and shot a 15-over 87 with two birdies and three pars.
 
Addi Wood from Concordia-St. Paul, Izabella Pesicka from MSU Denver and Falyn Lackey from Western New Mexico are tied for the individual leas with scores of 1-over 73.
