FARGO, N.D. – Will Hanson won the 60 meter hurdles, while
Raphael Lawson-Gayle and
Jordan Flinn each set a school records to highlight the Southwest Minnesota State indoor track & field teams on Saturday at the Bison Open.
Hanson crossed the line in a time of 8.13 to finish in first place, while Lawson-Gayle set the record in the long jump, finishing third with a mark of 6.96m (22-10). Wayne Hawkins held the previous record of 22-0 during the 1990 season.
Jordan Flinn set the record in the weight throw with a toss of 16.99m to finish in fourth place.
Chris Kveseth finished third in the 1,000 meters with school record time of 2:34.36, while
Dallin Finley placed fourth in the 200 meters with a time of 22.56.
The SMSU women's team had several strong showings as well, including
Kim Shabino, who recorded a personal best 8.02 in the 60 meters to finish ninth out of 27 runners.
Rylee Armstrong placed tied for seventh out of 18 in the long jump with a mark of 5.31m.
Both SMSU teams will return to action next Saturday at the SDSU Open in Brookings, S.D.
