MARSHALL Minn. – The Southwest Minnesota State E-Sports Super Smash Bros Ultimate team matched up Friday night against Concordia St. Paul, getting the programs first victory going 2-0.
SMSU started the first match with
Kyle Cox opening for the team, Cox was able to record three kills eliminating CSP's first team member. Cox went into the second with two lives left. CSP was able to knock Cox out recording two deaths and was matched up against SMSU's
Salvador Cid who dominated in the remainder of this match. Cid was able to knock out the reaming CSP team while only allowing CSP to take two of his own lives. Recording the first match victory for SMSU, leading CSP 1-0.
The second match began with
Trevor Groebner leading for SMSU going up against CSP recording two kills for SMSU but being knocked out by CSP. Bailey Herigon was able to record a third death for SMSU eliminating CSP's first player in the second match. CSP making a strong statement in this second match keeping pace with SMSU and knocking out Herigon. CSP now facing off against team captain
Brandon Lyons where he recorded nine deaths and three knockouts taking only two deaths, and sweeping the remaining CSP team in the second match securing the first overall victory for the SMSU E-Sports Team winning 2-0 agianst CSP.
The SMSU E-Sports Team will be back to work Tuesday, Oct. 13
th, with the Rocket League Team taking on Park University at 7 p.m. and Blinn College at 8:15 p.m.
The Super Smash Bros Ultimate Team will be back next week Friday at 7 p.m. to take on Milwaukee School of Engineering.
