MARSHALL, Minn. – The Southwest Minnesota State Esports team started its week four action on Tuesday night suffering two losses in Rocket League.
 
SMSU's first match ended with a 3-0 (2-1, 5-0, 3-0) defeat by Shenandoah University, the second match on Tuesday was also a 3-0 (1-0, 4-2, 4-3) loss to University of Southern Mississippi.
 
In the first game SMSU kept it close by only allowing two goals the defense was what kept them alive, having four saves on 9 shot attempts. Both teams struggled offensively with Shenandoah only landing two of their shots both made by DAT SNIPER. For SMSU the team took a total of three shots led by 
Sean Maciej (FireGingerWolf) taking three in the first game. The only team member to score for SMSU though was 
Mitchell Baker Magrath (KrawMagraw) going one for one in the first match. Shenandoah took the first game with a 2-1 game one victory. 
 
In the second game Shenandoah found their stride taking 16 shots and sinking five of them. For SMSU the trouble was moving their team in to an offensive position. SMSU totaled seven saves in this game, however, the team took a combined two shots one from Maciej and the other coming from Magrath. Shenandoah took the second game in the series with a 5-0 victory. 
 
In the final game of the series Shenandoah didn't let up. Each member had a score in this game, with DAT SNIPER and Romeo each taking three shots. SMSU faced the same problem they had in the last game. They were forced to play a heavy defense not allowing them to get up and score against Shenandoah. Maciej took shots with Magrath only taking one. 
Kyle Potter (Dark_Crystal) and Magrath who each recorded a save in the final game. SMSU loses the final game of the series 3-0 and falls in the series 3-0 against Shenandoah.
 
SMSU began their second series matching up against University of Southern Mississippi which featured both teams having relentless defenses. USM took a total of nine shots with Espyrr scoring the only goal for USM. For SMSU the team took a total of two shots one coming from Maciej and the other from Potter who also recorded three of the teams five saves in the first game. SMSU fell in the first game to USM 1-0.  
 
Going into the second game of the series both SMSU and USM were taking shots left and right. USM recorded a team total of 11 shots in this game with Espyrr leading the team with seven along with leading the team in goals securing two of the four made in this game. SMSU took a total of six shots with Maciej leading the team with four and splitting SMSU's goals in this game with teammate Potter both sinking one against USM. Both teams were eaqually matched defensively in this game with each team recording five saves. SMSU unable to keep pace offensively falls to USM 4-2 in the second game of the series. 
 
In the third game SMSU and USM continued the offensive assault on one another. USM went 4 for 10 on their shooting with Espyrr and TTV.Saiylesss each making two of USM's goals. For SMSU the team took a total of five shots three coming from Maciej and two from Potter. Only three of those five shots found placement in the goal with Potter securing two goals and Maciej having one. USM took the final game of the series 4-3 and won the series 3-0. 
 
SMSU E-Sports gets back into action tomorrow night with the Valorant team taking on Shawnee State University at 7 p.m. 
 
The Rocket League Team will be back next week Tuesday, Oct. 27
th, to go off against University of Missouri at 7 p.m.
