MARSHALL Minn. – The Southwest Minnesota State E-Sports Super Smash Bros Ultimate team competed Friday night being defeated by the University of Jamestown falling 2-0 in their final week of competition.
SMSU started the first match with
Brandon Lyons opening getting two deaths and Jamestown getting three deaths. After Lyons knockout SMSU's Bailey was rotated in and was unable to land a kill for the team bringing
Kyle Cox in to take down Jamestown's first player. Cox was able to grab one more life from Jamestown before finding himself knocked out.
Salvador Cid was next up for SMSU but was only able to find a single kill before being knocked out as Jamestown takes the first match going 1-0.
The second match began with Cid leading for SMSU, taking his momentum from the previous match Cid was able to take down Jamestown's first competitor with only one life of his own remaining. Jamestown knocked out Cid in the next round, however, he was able to take one more life from Jamestown before being knocked out. Cox came in next for SMSU where he was able to take a life from Jamestown before being knocked out. Bailey finished off Jamestown's third competitor keeping SMSU stride for stride with Jamestown. Brandon subbed in for Bailey and both teams exchanged death blows, however, Jamestown was able to knock out Lyons before he could finish them off. Jamestown secured the second match and won the overall competition Friday with a score of 2-0 against SMSU.
The SMSU E-Sports Team will be back to work Tuesday, Oct. 27
th, with the Rocket League Team taking on University of Missouri at 7 p.m.
