MARSHALL, Minn. – The Southwest Minnesota State University Esports Rocket League team concluded the regular season on Tuesday night with a tight 3-2 (1-2, 3-0, 2-3, 2-1, 1-2) loss to the University of Missouri.
In the first series 2-1 loss,
Mitchell Baker Magrath had the lone goal for SMSU and also made one save.
Sean Maciej added four shots in the setback.
In the second series,
Kyle Potter scored a pair of goals and chipped in with an assist to lead SMSU to the 3-0 victory. Maciej added a goal and racked up four shots.
SMSU suffered another one goal loss in the third series as Maciej scored two goals and added four shots in a 3-2 defeat.
The Mustangs pushed the match to a fifth series by earning a 2-1 victory in the fourth series. Potter and Maciej scored for SMSU with Maciej adding four shots.
In the deciding fifth series, Missouri was able to split past with a 2-1 victory to win the match. Potter scored the lone goal for SMSU, while both Baker Magrath and Maciej made a pair of saves.
SMSU finished 0-9 in Rocket League play in its inaugural season.
