MARSHALL, Minn. – The Southwest Minnesota State University Rocket League team dropped a pair of matches on Tuesday night in group state of the NACE Fall Rocket League.
SMSU, 0-4, lost a tight series, 3-0 (2-3, 0-2, 2-3) to Oklahoma City University, before losing 3-0 (1-3, 0-6, 2-6) to Eastern Kentucky University.
In the setback to OCU,
Sean Maciej had a pair of goals and made two saves, while
Mitchell Baker Magrath added an assist in the 3-2, game one loss.
In game two, Maciej and
Kyle Potter each recorded three saves, while Potter had two shots for the Mustangs in losing 2-0.
In the final game of the series, once again SMSU battled but came up just short, 3-2. Maciej scored a pair of goals on four shots, while Baker Magrath and Potter each chipped in with an assist.
In the second series of the night versus EKU, Maciej had a goal and made three saves, while Baker Magrath chipped in with an assist in a tight 3-1 loss in game one.
In game two, SMSU was held scoreless in falling 6-0, as Maciej recorded four saves, while Potter added two saves. Potter closed the game with two shots to pace the Mustangs.
In the final game of the night, a 6-2 setback, Maciej and Baker Magrath each scored a goal with Baker Magrath also adding an assist. Maciej closed the game making a pair of saves.
SMSU continues Rocket League play next Tuesday, Oct. 13, facing Park University at 7 p.m. and Blinn College at 8:15 p.m.
