MARSHALL, Minn. – The Southwest Minnesota State Esports team faced off Wednesday night with its Valorant team taking two losses against Milwaukee School of Engineering.
SMSU's began the night by suffering a 13-3 loss on the first map against MSOE and then falling 13-2 on the second map.
On the first map, SMSU was unable to keep pace with MSOE. SMSU was only able to place one player in the top five on the leaderboard.
Nicholas Polfliet (BigZoomerEnergy) finished fifth having eight kills, 16 deaths, and an avg combat score of 172. Polfiet also led the team in first bloods recording four on the night.
MSOE had MSOE W1 at the top position with 23 kills, five deaths, and one assist. ItsOgreNow, MSOE Werdy, and MSOE Wyman filled out the second, third, and fourth spots on the leader board ending the first game with SMSU dropping 13-2 on the first map.
For the second map, MSOE filled out the top three leader board positions with ItsOgreNow at one, MSOE W1 at two, and MOSE Mikesal at the third position. ItsOgreNow had 21 kills with seven deaths and seven assist with an avg combat score of 409.
For SMSU
Jackson Vierstraete (jAFFr0), secured the fourth position on the leaderboard. Vierstraete having the highest K/D ratio with 12 kills, 14 deaths, and two assists. SMSU finished the second and final map of the night down 13-2.
SMSU will be back in action Friday, Oct. 9, facing off against Concordia St. Paul in Super Smash Bros Ultimate competition.
The Valorant Team will face off against Cornell College next Wednesday, Oct. 14, at 7 p.m.
