MARSHALL, Minn. – The Southwest Minnesota State Esports opened its winter Valorant League season Sunday night where SMSU suffered a loss in a single match against UT Dallas Silver.
SMSU only competed on map where they suffered a 13-2 loss where UT Dallas competed on the defensive within the map having SMSU play on the offensive.
The top performer for SMSU was
Jackson Vierstraete (jAFFr0) getting 14 kills and having two assists. Behind Vierstraete,
Salvador Cid (Whafful) and
Trevor Van Keulen (PappaScruggs) both secured six kills for the team. Cid had 12 deaths and behind him Van Keulen had 13 deaths. Both of them also had four assists for SMSU.
For UT Dallas, cdot was the team's top performer, achieving a team high of 25 kills, he also had eight deaths and four assists. DarkMatterJet finished the match with 19 kills, four deaths and three assists.
SMSU E-sports will be back in action Saturday, Jan. 23, at 3 p.m. with the League of Legends team opening their season going against Ohio State University.
The SMSU Valorant team will be back in action Sunday, Jan. 24, at 6 p.m taking on the University of Victoria.
