MANKATO, Minn. – The Southwest Minnesota State University women's and men's track and field teams competed in day one of the Minnesota State Mark Schuck Open & Multi Friday at Myers Field House with three school records set.
Isatu Shirek finished third overall in the 300 meters with a school-record time of 41.07, while teammate
Shealyn Tom set a new school mark in the pole vault with a 10
th place height of 3.10m.
Sierra Clifford picked up first place in the 500 meters with time of 1:22.32, which was just shy of a school record.
On the men's side,
Max Schmitt established a new school mark in the 400 meter hurdles with a first-place time of 57.49.
Through six events, the SMSU men's team is fourth overall out of 13 teams with 16 points, while the SMSU women's team is fourth out of 15 teams with 21 points.
Day two of the meet begins at 9 a.m. on Saturday.
