ST. CLOUD, Minn. – The Southwest Minnesota State women's and men's cross-country teams had their final tune-up prior to the conference championships on Wednesday afternoon competing at the Waxlax Invite at Wapicada Golf Course and hosted by St. Cloud State University.
The SMSU women's team finished with 188 points to finish sixth out of seven teams, while the men's team recorded 151 points to finish fifth out of five teams.
The women's team had many personal bests during the meet with
Caitlyn Regan pacing the team with a 37
th place finish covering the 6,000-meter race in 23:58.
Catherine Ihrke finished in 41
st with a time of 24:25, while
Kyra Kusnierek crossed the finish line at 24:57.
Macie Langstraat ran 25:00 to place 56
th with
Hannah Koepfinger coming in 64
th at 25:41.
Savanna Busch placed 67
th at 25:47,
Natalie Jorschumb finished 72
nd at 26:21, while
Josephine Lentz closed at 26:37 to finish in 76
th.
On the men's side,
John Ziemkowski led the Mustangs with a time of 28:28 to finish 31
st in the 8,000-meter race at 28:05.
Brayden Tofteland ran 28:28 with teammate
Daniel Olson right behind at 29:23 to finish 33
rd and 34
th respectively.
Michael Boyd came at 36
th place at 31:36, followed by
Patrick Jenkins at 32:54 for 37
th and
Ryan Russek in 38
th at 33:27.
SMSU will next compete at the NSIC Championships in Wayne, Neb., on Nov. 5.
