MANKATO, Minn. – The Southwest Minnesota State University women's and men's track & field team recorded several high place winners, including two first-place finishes at the Minnesota State Open on Saturday.
Isatu Shirek set a program record in the women's 100-meter hurdles with a first-place time of 14.43.
Sierra Clifford put together a time of 58.67 in the 400-meters to finish in second place.
Taytum Klink ran 26.01 in the 200-meters to earn an eighth place finish, while Clifford was 10
th at 26.09.
Shealyn Tom finished in third-place in the pole vault with a mark of 3.12m.
For the SMSU men's team,
McKallen Smith won the high jump with a height of 2.02m.
Renald Pierre advanced to the finals of the 110-meter hurdles and finished with a time of 14.49 to place second overall.
Tyler Smith finished sixth in the 200-meters crossing the line at 22.89 and placed fifth in the 400-meters at 50.51.
Isaiah Nelson hit a distance of 6.67m in the long jump to earn a sixth-place finish, while he placed third in the triple jump at 13.89m.
Noah Eckelberg finished with a personal best time of 55.05 in the wheelchair 400-meters.
SMSU is scheduled to return to action on Wednesday and Thursday at the Northwestern Red Raider Open in Orange City, Iowa.
