MARSHALL, Minn. – The Southwest Minnesota State Esports team opened its 2022-23 season on Monday night in Rocket League action. The team won 3-1 (0-2, 2-0, 5-0, 4-3 OT), rallying from a first match loss, to defeat Spring Hill College in each of the following three matches.
Gavin Rohner (R0hner) led the Mustangs with 7 goals and 5 saves across the four matches,
Sean Sauve (KamiSean.) was key to the offense, leading the team with 4 assists, while
Dillon Hall (Juicydill25) did a little bit of everything, with 3 goals, 3 assists, and 3 saves on the day.
SMSU's Esports team will return to action at 7:30 on Wednesday, Sept. 21, with a Valorant match against Messiah University. The next Rocket League match for the Mustangs will be at 6:00 on Sept. 26, against Lubbock Christian University (Texas).
