Esports fall season going strong

MARSHALL, Minn. - The Southwest Minnesota State University Esports team has been competing in their fourth season under the lead of Spencer Louwagie. The Esports team is divided up into various teams, games and leagues. Here are where things currently stand in the fall season.  
 
Rocket League – NACE (Best of five series) 
The Mustang Rocket league team has been competing in two different leagues this fall, in the NACE, the team is currently 4-1 in series, 12-9 in individual games and tied for first with five team points, one point for each series win and an extra point from the bye. The only series loss the team has suffered in NACE play came against Michigan State University in early October, MSU is currently 4-0 and tied for first place with SMSU with five team points.  

The Mustangs final series of the regular season will be against the University of North Texas (Dallas) who are currently 3-1 and are in third place with four team points. North Texas' only loss of the season came last week against Michigan State.   
 
Rocket League – NECC
(Best of five series)  
In the NECC, the Rocket League team is in second place with a record of 3-1 in series and a record of 10-6 overall in individual games. The team's only series loss came against St. Cloud State University, who is currently first in the standings with a record of 5-0.  
The final series of the regular season for the Mustangs will come against North Dakota State on Friday, Nov. 10, starting at 7 p.m.  
 
Fall Valorant A – NACE (Best of three series) 
The Valorant A team competes in the NACE and is currently 2-4 in series this season with a record of 6-8 in individual matches. The team is tied for fifth place in their conference with George Mason University and Southern Arkansas University. The Valorant A team will face off against Fanshawe college on Wednesday, Nov. 8 at 6:30 p.m. for their final series of the regular season.  
 
Fall Valorant B – NECC (Best of three series) 
The Valorant B team competes in the NECC and is currently sixth in the standings with a series record of 1-3 and a record of 2-6 in individual games. The team will have their final series of the season against the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay tonight with the match scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.  
 
League of Legends – NECC (Best of three series)  
The SMSU League of Legends team is currently 1-3 in series with a record of 3-7 in individual matches with the team currently ranked fifth in the standings, their final series of the regular season will be against Bradley University Wednesday, Nov. 8 at 7 p.m.  
 
Overwatch – NECC (Best of five series)  
The SMSU Mustangs Overwatch team is currently at the top of the standings in their division with a series record of 4-0, and a record of 9-2 in individual games. Their final series of the regular season will come against the University of Wisconsin-River Falls on Thursday, Nov. 9, scheduled to begin at 7:30.
