DULUTH, Minn. – The Southwest Minnesota State University track & field teams completed day two of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Outdoor Championships setting a pair of school records on Friday at Malosky Stadium on the campus of the University of Minnesota Duluth.
 
The SMSU men's team is 10^th in the 14-team championship with four points. The SMSU women's team is in 13^th place with four points.
 
Minnesota State leads the men's championship with 69 points followed by MSU Moorhead recording 39 points. MSU also leads the women's championship totaling 83 points with Augustana in second place at 56.
 
Jack Clark broke the school record in the decathlon placing ninth overall with 5,628 points. Chaden Carroll set the previous record a season ago with 5,619 points. On Thursday, Clark set a season best mark of 1.82m in the high jump to place third and ran a personal best 54.15 in the 400 meters to finish ninth. He finished at 11.30 in the 100 meters to place seventh, was 10^th in the long jump at 5.93m and finished 11^th in the shot put at 10.16m.
 
On Friday, Clark opened the day running 15.72 in the 110-meter hurdles to place fifth. He finished 12^th in the discus at 22.28m, was 11^th in the pole vault at 3.26m, earned fifth finish in the javelin with a toss of 43.24m and closed with a seventh place finish in the 1,500 meters at 5:10.68.
 
Jacob Kunkel recorded a season best mark of 1.97m in the high jump to earn three points with Ryan Kronbach clearing 1.92m to finish eighth and earn one point.
 
Max Schmitt finished with a time of 54.70 in the 400-meter hurdles and will advance to Saturday's final.
 
Tyler Nebelung earned a top 15 finish in the hammer throw placing 14^th at 50.28m.
 
Logan Roelofs set a personal best 10:23.50 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase to place 15^th, while teammate Seth Torgerson also set a personal best placing 18^th at 10:34.01.
 
Madison Marco earned the SMSU women's team three points with a school record time of 11:19.75 to finish sixth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.
 
Nadia Sanford earned one team point with an eighth place toss in the hammer throw at 46.15m.
 
Sierra Clifford finished fifth in the 400-meter prelims with a time of and is one of eight to qualify for Saturday's finals.
 
Rainbow Stands finished 11^th in the high jump at 1.62m with teammate Christine Sleeter placing 13^th at 1.57m.
 
Emily Lorentz earned 11^th place in the shot put at 12.84m.
 
Zoe Ruschmeier and Michelle Marquard tied for 13^th in the pole vault at 3.21m.
 
The final day of the NSIC Championships resumes Saturday starting at 10 a.m.
