SIOUX CENTER, IOWA – The Southwest Minnesota State women's and men's cross country teams competed in their final regular season meet on Saturday at the Dordt University Classic.
The SMSU women's team placed 10
th with 212 points, while the men's team also was 10
th recording 308 points. Dordt took home first place in both the women's and men's race.
In the women's 6,000-meter race,
Macie Langstraat ran a team best 23:29.30 for the Mustangs to finish 25
th overall.
Madison Marco ran 23:34.70 to place 29
th, while
Kyra Kusnierek was 60
th at 24:31.70.
Catherine Ihrke finished 89
th at 25:32.10, with
Natalie Jorschumb running 25:49.90 to finish 97
th,
Carissa Andres closed in 98
th at 25:50.60, while
Alicia Blesi placed 104
th at 26:10.70.
Dordt's Corinne Braun won the women's race at 21:52.60.
In the men's 8,000-meter race,
Seth Torgerson was SMSU's top finisher running 26:49.38 to capture 52
nd place.
Carter Schwalbe was close behind his teammate to finish 58
th at 26:57.58.
Roel Palomo crossed the line at 28:48.49 to finish 132
nd with
Logan Roelofs placing 152
nd at 29:31.40.
Elliott Hoffman closed in 165
th at 30:20.97, while
Daniel Olson ran 30:28.96 to finish 168
th.
Aidan Vorster from Dordt captured first place in the men's race running 24:49.10.
Both SMSU teams will now turn its attention to the NSIC Championships on Oct. 26 in Minot, N.D.
