SMSU Athletics Hall of Honor
Amanda Tucci (2006-09) was a four-year letter winner for the softball team closing her career as one the top power hitters and winningest players in team history.
An Oakdale, Minn., native, Tucci played in 40 games as a true freshman in 2006 helping the Mustangs to a perfect 14-0 NSIC championship season and the program’s first-ever appearance in the NCAA tournament. Â
Tucci burst onto the scene during her sophomore season tying for the team-lead with 10 home runs, while ranking second in RBIs and doubles. She earned both All-NSIC first team and Daktronics All-Region second team honors in helping SMSU win the league for a second straight season and advance to the NCAA tournament.Â
During her junior season in 2008, SMSU won another league title and played in the NCAA tournament. Tucci was named All-NSIC honorable mention after leading the team with eight home runs.Â
As a senior in 2009, SMSU captured another NSIC championship and played in the NCAA tournament with Tucci ranking second on the squad in both home runs (11) and RBIs (57), while batting .291. For her efforts, she was named All-NSIC first team and Daktronics All-Region first team. Â
Tucci was a member of four NSIC regular season championship and four NCAA tournament teams during her career with SMSU racking up a combined record of 150-60.Â
Tucci closed her career all over the record books ranking second in school history in home runs (32), third in RBIs (125), third in walks (77), and eighth in slugging percentage (.504).
