Ron McLaughlin (community member) has had a long relationship with SMSU athletics since 1967.  He is a long time Mustang Booster Club member and has served on the board of directors.  He has also chaired the "Friends of the Mustangs" dinner hosted by the Mustang Booster Club.

McLaughlin also initiated the Fall welcome dinner for SMSU athletes in 1978 and continued to host the dinner for 20 years.
