SMSU Athletics Hall of Honor
Chad Hess (1994-97) was a four-year letterwinner in baseball and is one of just a handful of student-athletes in school history to earn first team all-conference honors all four years.
A native of Melrose, Minn., Hess was a member of two NSIC regular season championship teams in 1994 and 1996 and was also a member of the 1997 NSIC tournament championship team that set a-then school record with 31 victories.
He batted .319 or higher in three of his four seasons, including hitting .361 as a freshman with eight home runs and 53 RBIs to earn team MVP accolades.
Hess finished his career ranking second in program history with 149 RBIs and finished third in the SMSU career record book in hits with 171, doubles with 33 and total bases with 277. He also belted 23 home runs, which ranked fourth in team history following his career.
