SMSU Athletics Hall of Honor
Darrel Wiener (community member) has been involved with the university since the early 1970s, first as a student-athlete and then as an active supporter of SMSU athletics. Wiener played both baseball (1971-74) and football (1971-73) for SMSU earning all-conference honors in baseball in 1973 and honorable mention all-conference in football in 1971, before graduating with a degree in accounting in 1975.
Following graduation he’s been an avid supporter of SMSU athletics having been a member of the Mustang Booster Club since 1975 while also serving as the club’s president. Wiener has also been active on numerous fundraising and hiring committees at the university and also served as a volunteer coach for the SMSU baseball team in 1999 and 2000.
