Nadia AbuAyed (2001-04) was a steady and productive performer at the forward position during her four-year career with the soccer team and closed her career atop many of the program’s scoring records.

A native of Monticello, Minn., AbuAyed had a strong rookie season in 2001, leading the team with seven assists, while ranking second on the squad with 17 points.

In 2002, AbuAyed once again ranked second on the team in scoring with 27 points, dishing out a team-high nine assists, while scoring nine goals. She led the team with 86 shots and ranked third in the NSIC in shots and shots per game. For her efforts, she was named All-NSIC first team and helped SMSU finish with a 6-3 record in league play.

As a junior in 2003, AbuAyed scored a team-leading seven goals, recorded a team-high 56 shots and ranked second with 15 points. Her strong play throughout the year garnered All-NSIC first team honors for the second straight year, while also earning NSIC All-Tournament accolades. She was also named SMSU’s Female Scholar Athlete of the Year for her efforts on and off the field of play.

AbuAyed capped her career in 2004 tying for the team-lead with eight assists and racking up 20 points to earn All-NSIC first team honors for the third straight season. A standout in the classroom throughout her career, she was named CoSIDA Academic All-District in 2004.

AbuAyed helped lead the Mustangs to a winning record in conference play in each of her final three seasons, while finishing her 82-game playing career as the program’s all-time leader in points (79), goals (27) and assists (25). Following the 2024 season, she still ranks second all-time in both points and assists, while ranking third in goals.
