SMSU Athletics Hall of Honor
Hugh Curtler (head women's tennis coach, 1979-92) served as the head women's tennis coach for 14 seasons. His teams won 10 consecutive NAIA District 13 titles and nine straight NSIC championships. Curtler, who finished with a 171-69-1 overall record, was named the 1990 Wilson/Intercollegiate Tennis Coaches Association Coach of the Year for NAIA women's tennis. He was also named NAIA District 13 Coach of the Year 10 times and was a four-time NSIC Coach of the Year.
Curtler's teams finished in the Top 20 at the NAIA National Championships eight times, with a highest finish of 11th in 1990. He coached five NAIA All-Americas and five NSIC No. 1 singles champions.
Curtler was inducted into the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Hall of Fame in 2000.
