SMSU Athletics Hall of Honor
Carolina Gomez (tennis, 1986-89) was a four-year letterwinner for the tennis team and was a member of four Northern Sun Conference and four NAIA District 13 championship teams.
Gomez, a native of Bucaramanga, Colombia, finished her singles career with a record of 99-22 (.818), ranking first in school history for winning percentage. She also finished with a career record of 96-26 (.787) in doubles play--ranking third in school history.
An honorable mention NAIA All-America in doubles in 1988, Gomez followed that up by earning second team NAIA All-America honors in 1989 at both singles and doubles. She was a four-time all-conference honoree, including earning the honor at No. 1 singles in 1988 and No. 1 doubles in 1989. Gomez was also a four-time NAIA All-District honoree.
Carolina and her husband, Thomas, have one child and live in Gainesville, Fla.
