SMSU Athletics

Jim Martin (swimming & diving, 1976-79) was a three-year letterwinner for SMSU after transferring from Brigham Young University. Martin won the NAIA one-meter diving championship in 1979, the fifth and final individual national championship for SMSU.

An NAIA All-America in both 1978 and 1979, Martin placed fourth in the one-meter and seventh in the three-meter diving at the 1978 national meet and 10th in the one-meter field in 1977.  Martin set the NIC record of 521.3 points in three-meter diving in 1979.
