Jacob Fahl (1999-2003) was a four-year letterwinner in men’s basketball and is the school’s all-time leading scorer and was a member of one of the top teams in program history.

A native of Benson, Minn., Fahl appeared in 120 career games and still ranks among the top five in eight categories in the school career record book.

Fahl closed his career pouring in a school record 1,638 points--breaking the mark on Feb. 28, 2003--a record that stood for 17 years.

He led SMSU in scoring during his junior and senior seasons, earning first team All-NSIC honors and second team Daktronics All-Region honors in both 2002 and 2003.

Fahl finished his career holding school records in 3-point field goals made (173), free throws made (377), free throw pct. (84.5) and games played (120). He also ranked fourth in school history with 544 field goals made and was fifth all-time in assists with 260. Fahl’s 90.4 percent free throw percentage during the 2002-03 season currently ranks third in school history.

Fahl was a member of SMSU’s first-ever conference championship team in 2000-01 and also helped lead the team to the school’s first-ever NCAA region championship and appearance in the NCAA Elite Eight during that season. During his four-year career, SMSU finished 84-36, and recorded fourth, first, third and second place finishes in the conference standings.

Jacob, who was named the SMSU Male Student-Athlete of the Year in 2002-03, is a 2003 graduate with a degree in business management.
