SMSU Athletics

Dave and Diane Taylor are long-time supporters of SMSU and Mustang Athletics, having seen the University and its athletics department from its inception to what it is today competing at the NCAA Division II level. 

Dave and Diane, natives of Stillwater, Minn., and Lake City, Minn., respectively, were married in 1965 and moved to Marshall to begin a 30-plus year career in education. Together they taught in the Marshall School District for more than 60 years. 

The Taylor family witnessed the first-ever SMSU basketball game played at Marshall High School and the first SMSU football game played at Legion Field. 

Dave and Diane have been active members of SMSU Mustang Club activities, have served on SMSU Foundation board and with the SMSU Alumni Ambassadors. Both have been deeply involved in numerous civic organizations within the Marshall community, demonstrating a passion for service and a desire to give back.

Dave and Diane have given their unwavering support and commitment to help shape both the institution and its athletic programs. Whether in the stands cheering for the Mustangs or rallying support among community members, their Mustang pride has always been evident.
